NANTY GLO – There will eventually be a new look, and a new home, for parishioners of a church in Nanty Glo borough.
Nearly two years after a fire ripped through First Baptist Church in Nanty Glo, pastor Gino Bartoletti said the congregation is in the first stages of rebuilding the church.
“I had never experienced anything like this. Most pastors never do,” Bartoletti said. “When you lose your building, when it’s 102 years old at the time of fire, it’s a whole change.”
Site preparations began last Monday with hopes of rebuilding the church. Bartoletti hopes to incorporate pieces saved from the 102-year-old church.
“We’ve been able to salvage some of the stained glass in the building,” Bartoletti said. “The stained glass is very old. We’re going to try to incorporate them.”
Since the fire, the congregation consolidated with Laurel Mountain Bible Church in Mundy’s Corner, something Bartoletti said has been a huge success.
Bartoletti hopes the final product will be complete in five to six months.
