WASHINGTON (WSYX) — A tweet from Sesame Street's beloved character, Big Bird, has caught the attention of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
"I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it'll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy," Big Bird said on Twitter.
Big Bird's announcement came after members of Sesame Street participated in a town hall about "The ABCs of COVID" vaccine alongside CNN journalist Erica Hill, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
The tweet received high praises from doctors, and even President Joe Biden.
"Good on ya, @BigBird. Getting vaccinated is the best way to keep your whole neighborhood safe," Biden said.
Senator Cruz, who received the COVID vaccine himself, was none to please to see the beloved character announce he got the vaccine.
"Government propaganda for... your 5-year-old!" Cruz said on Twitter.
After slamming Big Bird, Seth MacFarlane shared his thoughts about Senator Cruz.
"No surprise, Big Bird is smarter than Ted Cruz. So is Kermit, Ernie, Bert, Grover, Oscar, Cookie Monster, The Count, Mr. Snuffleupagus, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Rowlf, Dr. Teeth, The Swedish Chef, Scooter, Janice, Gonzo, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, and Animal," MacFarlane tweeted.
Children ages 5 to 11 are eligible to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
