Lance Ross, the former owner of The Freight Station bar in Johnstown, was found "violently assaulted" inside of his own establishment in February according to the Cambria County Coroner.
About two months later the community is left with more questions than answers, as an arrest has yet to be made.
Today people gathered at the bar to celebrate the life of Ross and The Freight Station one final time before the building is put up for sale.
“It's very sad that this venue, this is the last event that's being held here,” Duaine Detrick said. “Nobody knows what's going to happen with this venue in the future.”
Former patrons said The Freight Station was important to many.
“I feel that Johnstown really needs this venue but it's most likely going to go away,” Ray Buksa said.
Attendees of the celebration said they are there for one reason.
I'm here today to celebrate Lance Ross and all the good things he did for the community. He was a big supporter of the Johnstown area and the music scene,” Detrick said. “He's going to be sadly missed by a lot of people for many of the things he supported.”Those close to Ross said his interaction with people is what will be celebrated the most.
“The event today we're calling last ride for Lance Ross and the Freight Station. An awful, awful lot of friendships were formed through Lance Ross and a great many people he brought together,” Buksa said, “Lance is going to sorely be missed.”
