Local church daycare raises money for kids who lost family member to COVID

A church daycare is helping some of its own after a devastating loss.

The Tri-County Church Kids Clubhouse in Sandy Township held a fundraiser for one of their kids Wednesday called “Jumps for Jake.”

Clearfield County native Jake McMinn passed away from COVID-19 in January.

His daughter Kenzley McMinn and two of his nieces attend the daycare.

The kids at the daycare participated in jumping activities such as jump roping, bouncy houses and potato sack races.

In addition to accepting donations from outside sources, Two Brothers Tees in DuBois created t-shirts for sale. Proceeds from the shirt sales will go towards the fund.

"First thought, it just makes you speechless, in a world full of such negativity, all the positivity coming out of such a negative impact on our lives, it really means a lot.

Kenzley's only been coming here since October so for them to do all of this, we haven't even been here that long, that shows there's really great people in the world."

So far, the TCC Kids Clubhouse has raised more than $3,200 for Kenzley’s fund which exceeds the church's $3,000 goal.

Anyone who wishes to contribute can reach out to First Commonwealth bank or the staff at the Tri-County Church Kids Clubhouse in Sandy Township.
